What is the definition of "retirement" for an individual who has reached preservation age, for the purpose of legitimately accessing superannuation? Does it mean (a) never working again (b) never working full-time again (c) some other definition? - Ralph
If you have reached your preservation age you may access your super if you have ceased employment and you do not intend to work again on either a full-time or part-time basis.
If you are aged at least 60, you may also access your super if you ceased employment on or after your 60th birthday. Once you turn 65 you may access your super at any time.
To access your super, complete a Benefit payment form, available at mediasuper.com.au/forms. For more information on accessing your super, contact us on 1800 640 886.
