WAAPA student wins inaugural Equity Neighbours Internship

The Equity Foundation is thrilled to announce that Perth–based performer Anneliese Apps is the winner of the inaugural 2016 Neighbours Internship.

Anneliese was selected by the casting department of FremantleMedia from more than 150 applicants.

Neighbours producer Natalie Lynch says: "The caliber of applicants far exceeded our expectations and although it was a very difficult decision we are thrilled to have Anneliese Apps, a WAAPA student, as the recipient of this fantastic initiative."

Anneliese will have the unique opportunity to spend a week on the set of this long–running Australian drama, working with key cast members as well as the wardrobe, scheduling, casting, script, art make–up and editing departments.

Of being selected for the internship Anneliese says: "I am so grateful and excited to have received this wonderful learning opportunity. I can't wait to jump into this adventure and see what goes on behind the scenes of Neighbours! Thank you Equity!"

This paid internship is made possible with the generous support of Media Super. Anneliese will receive return flights and accommodation for the duration of the internship. She will also be paid at the appropriate award rate.

Media Super CEO Graeme Russell says: "We're really pleased to give a talented student like Anneliese the chance to work on an iconic Australian television production. As the industry's own super fund, we're committed to working with our industry partners to create new opportunities for established and emerging talent. We're sure that our members appreciate the benefit of our modest investment in helping to build a stronger creative arts sector in Australia."

Established in 2002 with a mission to assist, educate and inspire performers, the Equity Foundation is now the region's leading provider of workshops, masterclasses and events tailored to the unique needs of performers.

Equity director Zoe Angus says: "From masterclasses with leading directors to US accent classes and free film screenings the Equity Foundation is such a wonderful resource for Equity members. I am so pleased to see our student members also benefitting from the offerings of the Foundation. This is a rare chance to be immersed in the world of television drama and see how the magic happens first hand. Of course a huge thank–you to FremantleMedia and Media Super for making this internship possible."
