Media Super’s top 10 performance

1 May 2017 By Media Super Team

After finishing in the top 10 super funds for 2016#, we’re continuing to deliver solid investment returns for our super and pension members this financial year.

Media Super’s Balanced (MySuper) option – in which most members are invested – returned 9.60%^ for the financial year to 31 March 2017. This places the Balanced option’s returns ahead of the median return of 8.31%* and in the top five Balanced investment options of Australian super funds.

Our Pension Balanced option is also continuing to perform strongly, returning 10.36%^ for the financial year to 31 March 2017, ahead of the median return of 9.16%** and in the top 10 Pension Balanced investment options of Australian super funds.

Media Super’s Balanced investment option is invested across shares (Australian and overseas), property and infrastructure, fixed interest investments and cash. Plus we have portfolio insurance in place to reduce the impact of losses if share markets fall heavily. We are one of the few funds that has this type of insurance in place.

Performance information for other investment options is available on our website for super and pension.

In the 2016-17 financial year the investment community has certainly faced some challenges, including ‘Brexit’, the US presidential election, and the US slowly starting to increase interest rates.

Despite this uncertainty, Media Super has delivered sound investment returns over the past 12 months and we’re confident that we’ve got the right investment strategy to maximise your returns in the long term.
