How you log in is changing - additional security step18 Dec 2018
Cyber security and protecting your sensitive data is important, so we’re adding a new security step known as Multi Factor Authentication when you log in to your Media Super account.
What is Multi Factor Authentication?
Multi Factor Authentication (MFA) combines a member’s username and password with an additional security factor – a temporary numeric code sent to you – to confirm your identity and keep information secure.
You may already use MFA when you access online banking, social media sites or other online accounts.
MFA ensures a stolen or weak password is not sufficient for an unauthorised person to gain access to your sensitive data or our critical technology systems.
What will you need to do?
The first time you log in after 20 December 2018, you will enter your Media Super member number and PIN/password as usual. You’ll then be directed a MFA registration page where you will be asked to confirm your email and / or mobile number.
You will be guided through a few steps, which will generate a temporary code to complete the authentication process and allow you to access your account. This should only take about two minutes.
On subsequent log ins, you will generally only be asked to enter your member number and PIN/password as you’ve already passed MFA. You may be asked to pass MFA again and enter a verification code if you are logging in from a different location or device, or you’ve clicked the ‘forgot password’ button to reset your password.
Secure passwords are still important
MFA will provide an additional layer of security to your account; however, we still recommend that you use strong, unique passwords for online accounts.
