Skills and experience: Paddy has extensive experience in leadership roles at a wide range of unions, beginning with the Seaman’s Union of Australia and the Maritime Union of Australia, before becoming president of the International Transport Workers Federation in 2010, a position he still retains.
Paddy was International President, Construction, Forestry Maritime, Mining & Energy Union from 2018 through to 2021 and became President, Construction Forestry and Maritime Employees Union in 2021.
Paddy is a director or Chair on a number of Boards including the Australian National Maritime Museum, Australian Maritime Training Foundation Limited, ACTU Centre of Workers Capital, the Australian Maritime Defence Council and the International Transport Workers Federation Seafarers Trust. He has been a leader in the labour rights investment network and is Vice-Chair of the Global Union’s Committee on Workers’ Capital. Paddy is also National Secretary Maritime Union of Australia National Council.
